Our regular haunt in the Alsace when looking for an overnight stop is usually at the Camping Municipal at Obernai. On this occasion however, we decided to head slightly further north, and a night stop at the Camping Municipal Molsheim.

Reception was closed on arrival. However, a member of staff directed us to a pitch, requesting that we register at reception after 3pm.

Camping Municipal Molsheim facilities include:

  • All grass pitches offering electric hook up at ten amps. (Note – the ground is soft in wet weather – try to position your driving wheels accordingly!)
  • Toilet and shower blocks
  • Motorhome service point
  • FREE wifi
  • Ordering of bread/croissants etc at reception, delivered the following morning
  • Ping pong table
  • Reception/shop selling milk, locally made preserves

Across the road from the site is an outdoor swimming pool. Local information suggested the pool opened for the season “within the next week.”

The town of Molsheim is within easy walking distance. The centre is not too unlike Obernai in appearance.  There are a selection of shops, bars and eateries. Obernai however offers more eateries! A Lidl supermarket is about 15 minutes walk away, and there is also a Super U supermarket. The latter offers a better selection and reasonable prices.

The local train service offers journey opportunities to  Selestat and Strasbourg and many towns in between. The journey to Strasbourg takes about twenty minutes.

Camping Municipal Molsheim does not have a website, but there is some information here on Molsheim itself. The site can accommodate larger units, but some pitches are smaller than others, so it might be worth a ‘phone call before arriving. Also, there is a barrier at the site entrance, and this is kept in the ‘down’ position. Drivers of longer outfits should check that your unit will be clear of the road when drawing up to the barrier!
