Information gained on site suggested the origins of the Camping and Caravanning Club Chertsey date back as far as the 1920’s and the memorabilia on display, with historic press cuttings made interesting reading. Located a short stroll from Chertsey town centre and along the banks of the River Thames, the Camping and Caravanning Club Chertsey offers all the mod cons and amenities a modern day camper is looking for.

The site is set amongst mature trees, giving this Camping and Caravanning club site a country feel despite it’s location within the M25 motorway area. Worth noting is the fact the site is outside the Congestion Charge and Low Emission Zone areas of London.

On site facilities include:

  • Choice of pitch types – grass or hard stand
  • Some super service pitches available with fresh water and waste water facilities “pitch side”
  • Electric hook up
  • Motorhome service point
  • Amenity block with showers, toilets and hand basins
  • Laundry
  • Dog walk
  • Childrens’ play area
  • Wifi (charge payable)

Despite being late November, the site was busy when I stayed. The amenity block was very warm indeed despite the low outside temperatures.

Fishing is also available at certain times of year, as is the ability to launch your canoe!

The are many attractions within the local area, with Legoland, Windsor, Thorpe Park, Kew Gardens, Chessington World of Adventures and Hampton Court all within easy reach.

There are a selection of shops within easy walking distance at Chertsey, including a Sainsbury’s supermarket with reasonable priced fuel. There is some road noise from the nearby M3 motorway, but this was not too intrusive. Details of pricing and more information available here.
