Lovely sosta with a fully equipped amenity block, close to Lake Garda but closer to the motorway, so some noise!

Whilst enjoying our stay at the Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop, we had engaged conversation with many of the Italian motorhomers who were a bit more clued up on the local area than we are! One couple in particular told us about another new sosta – this time the Frassino Camper Stop

This sosta is a good alternative to the one in Peschiera – it’s not too far to walk into town and you are close to the Sanctuary of Madonna del Frassino

We took a ride out on the bikes and noted the Frassino Camper Stop was a lot less busy than the sosta at Peschiera del Garda. Therefore we decided to make the second sosta home for a few nights, noting the weekend was another public holiday in Italy. The Frassino Camper Stop is sign posted and is easy to find. It is located next to the Hotel Nuova Barcaccia. The hotel address is 11 Via Madonna del Frassino, Frassino, Italy. You can also follow the signs to the “Santuario del Frassino”

At first glance, the Frassino Camper Stop looks very much like the sosta at Peschiera, with the same type of entrance barrier and ticket machines place. However, the first thing to notice is that this camper stop is a lot less crowded, yet is just one mile from it’s sister!

Facilities at Frassino Camper Stop

A walk around reveals a good-sized, fully equipped shower block with “individual wet rooms” and also facilities for the less able. There is also an indoor pot wash area. Noteworthy of a mention, the central heating radiators – suggesting this sosta is open all year round.

At the top end of the camper stop, there is a bar area. Opening times of the onsite bar vary. The hotel next door also has a bar that is open to non hotel residents. There are two pizzerias within very short walking distance. Lidl and Simply/Auchan supermarkets are half a mile away. These two supermarkets are equidistant between the two sostas.

So you have these facilities, a motorhome service point and electric hook up for just 12 euro per night. What’s the drawback? OK, there is one, but careful choice of pitch can mitigate against this. The Frassino Camper Stop is just yards from the busy A4 motorway. However,  there are sound barriers/screens in place and these do reduce the noise. The lower part of the sosta and the places nearest to the screens are the quietest places.

Screening prevents a buffer for some motorway noise.

A close look at this photo’ and you will note the traffic on the A4, “partially hidden” by the sound proofing screens.

Update – the on site bar opened on the Friday afternoon. The owner came round and asked us to take a glass and drink as much wine as we liked. It was not wine – it was port or sherry or something! Hic

Speaking of bars, the hotel next door is trying to drum up passing trading with this impromptu sign!
