The Chianciano Terme sosta is always busy! As a result, you must arrive in good time to get a place. Chianciano Terme is one of Italy’s most famous spas/thermals. The town lies between Florence and Rome, just off the A1 motorway. Note there are two towns, Chianciano and Chianciano Terme. This article relates to Chianciano Terme.

The camper stop offers a fresh and grey water facility, four electric hook up points and a chemical disposal facility. It’s worth noting however that all four hook up points were in use, each with several “splitters” coming from them! One Italian motorhomer offered to split his “splitter”, allowing us access to the hook up so heaven knows what current was supplied! There are “slots” for coins for payment for the electricity. However, during our stay, the facilities were advertised as “free”.

There does not seem to be a time restriction here. Some motorhomes look like they are taking root. Aside from working in the local area, there is not a great deal to do here. Other than a transit stop, or a day at the spa, Chianciano Terme is a little off the beaten track. However, you could of course start a tour along the lines of “Winetasting in Tuscany!”

Chianciano Terme sosta – local area

The sosta is a short walk from the town centre and is close to the principal spas. There are very few, if any restaurants in Chianciano Terme. However there are dozens of hotels offering restaurant dining to none residents. We had a five course meal at The Hotel President, served with water and wine (a bottle each, red and white) for 25 euro per person. There are a few shops in the town, a small supermarket and also a larger supermarket when you leave Chianciano Terme and head towards Chiusi.

This website will give you a little more info about Chianciano and the surrounding area. Why not have a read of our Camperstop book review? The book details thousands of Camperstops in Europe – click here.
