Chavannes sur L’Etang aire was discovered quite by accident, due to being “lost in France” – almost. We were heading for the French/Swiss border at Basel and were travelling toll-free on the “D419” between Belfort (France) and Switzerland (Basel). We spotted a motorhome aire sign, and the rest is history!

The aire can accommodate pretty much any size vehicle. For the princely sum of seven euro per night, electricity is included. Electric hook up is provided at six amps. Note though, that depending on where you park, you might need an extra long lead. Also, the hook up post requires the two pin adaptor rather than the standard CEE 3 pin type. Fresh & grey water facilities are available, along with a chemical disposal point. There are also a couple of toilets and hand basins. Free wi-fi is available too. Picnic tables are available for visitors to use.

The service point is easy to use and caters for larger vehicles.

Chavannes sur L’Etang aire – what’s close by?

There is a lovely bakers shop approximately 100 metres away, but nothing else in the immediate area. Noteworthy of a mention though, a mobile pizzeria rocked up, and it seemed to be doing very well with passing motorists etc. Details of this aire, along with thousands of others are available in the Camperstop book. There’s a little bit more information on the area here.
