It is easy to see why Camping via Claudiasee is busy! The location is close to the border of Italy, Switzerland and Austria. Consequently, Camping via Claudiasee is a superb transit stop. Furthermore, those visiting the duty free shopping town of Samnaun will find Camping via Claudiasee the most cost effective overnight stop, close to the duty frees!

The site is split into two halves. There is a “camperstop” offering great value for money for motorhomes and also a conventional campsite. We stayed at the camperstop and noted the following facilities.

  • Large motorhome service point with fresh and grey
  • Chemical disposal point
  • Electric hook up – payable by coins – 70 cents per KWH
  • All year round hard stands
  • 24 hour check in
  • Dracula haunted house!

The campsite offers guests access to the showers and toilets. A stay at the camperstop cost us €11.50 for two adults and a dog whilst a stay within the camping area would have cost €26.50.

The reception area houses a small bar/coffee area. It is possible to pre order fresh bread for delivery the following morning.

Both the camperstop and the campsite offer access to a childrens play area and a pleasant walk around a small lake.

Camping via Claudiasee – close to the duty free!

Approximately ten miles from Camping via Claudiasee is the Swiss town of Samnaun. As mentioned, this is a duty free state and during our visit, diesel cost approximately 85p per litre, vodka £7 per litre with most other spirits at the same sort of price. There is one camperstop in Samnaun but this is expensive at approximately fifty Swiss francs per night! As a result, it’s a better bet to stay at Camping via Claudiasee! The site is open all year round – click here for the website.
