Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop is a new sosta at Lake Garda. Last year, we had a walk around the existing Camper Stop at Peschiera del Garda – see here. It’s basically a car park and little all else. The original motorhome parking area is not in a great position and costs along the lines of 15 euro per night! However, on arrival at Peschiera del Garda this week , we noted a new Camper Stop had opened. It looked packed to the rafters. There didn’t appear to be a spare place, so we carried on with our plans of looking for a suitable campsite.

Later in the week though, a walk past the Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop revealed the sosta to be almost deserted. That pretty much as expected for mid-week and low season.

The sosta is clearly signed In Peschiera. If you use the address of 51 Via Milano, Peschiera del Garda, your satnav device will find it!

Enquiries revealed the Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop had opened for business on Saturday 12th April, so a great addition to the area as the season gets underway. Entrance is through an electrically operated barrier – pushing the button and taking a ticket raises the barrier. There is an attendant in situ at certain times of the day. Payment is made to a parking meter type machine, by CASH ONLY. Noteworthy of a mentioned is that 50 euro notes are NOT accepted.

A quick stroll around estimates there to be about one hundred hard standings. There are about half that number of electric hook ups. The hook up outlets do not show an individual amperage, but there is mention of “20 amps maximum” on each bollard, which divided by four outlets, would give five amps per user (in theory!)

Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop – facilities

Visitors to the sosta can mak use of the motorhome service point where fresh water is available and also the grey dump. There is a small amenity block too – with a couple of toilets and a couple of showers. Outside the “block” are four sinks. Two of these appear to be geared up for pot washing, whilst two have a mirror and a shaver point! Free wi-fi is available, albeit a rather slow connection.

At the time of our stay, the price was advertised as 12 euro per 24 hours, although shorter timescale tickets were also available.

Now the drawback at the Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop….. the railway line is at one side of the sosta. This line is the main railway route for Milan to Venice, but that said, there are not that many trains. Most of the trains are slowing down for the nearby station, so the noise is not too bad at all. A good deal of money has been spent creating the camper stop. For example, the area between the sosta and the railway line has been filled with hundreds of Leylandii conifers. I would guess these will help to form a sound barrier in years to come.

Within walking distance – ten minutes or so, is Peschiera del Garda town centre, with buses and trains to a variety of towns and cities, also boats to lake side towns. Lidl, Simply and Pennymarket supermarkets are all close by

The latest feature to arrives at the Peschiera del Garda Camper Stop is a pair of fixed BBQ’s for guests to use.

Update – 2016 – the new tariff is 15 euro per night.

Update January 2020 – the new tariff is 18 euro per night
