Christmas Markets in the Alsace

Christmas Markets in the Alsace

For those seeking a winter break,  a visit to the Christmas markets in the Alsace is well worthy. Like many towns throughout Europe, the Alsace region comes alive with Christmas markets at this time of year. Obernai has a small Christmas market in the town centre whilst Strasbourg has one large central Christmas market, but then numerous smaller markets dotted around the city. Anyone attempting to diet should avoid these areas as vendors sell cakes, pastries, waffles, hot wines, various fruited drinks and then sweets and chocolates galore.

Christmas markets in the Alsace – where to stay

There is a motorhome aire in Strasbourg. However, we have not stayed there. For visits to the Alsace and Strasbourg, we stay at the Camping Municipal in Obernai. Click here for our review of the site.

The markets generally run for three to four weeks prior to Christmas. Visit the Alsace tourism website for up to date information.
