The Camping and Caravanning Club Delamere is open all year round and so formed a nice starting point for the first trip out of 2016. The journey of just 80 miles via the Woodhead Pass led to a changing landscape, leaving cloud, rain and snow behind and arriving into sunshine!

Before pitching, we filled the tanks with fresh water, noting that a hose pipe is supplied and in situ. This is a great little touch and makes servicing the ‘van a lot quicker and easier.

We were then offered a choice of pitches, something that is always appreciated. Generally speaking, we accept that when using a larger than average sized van, sometimes we may have to “just go where we fit”. At this time of year, only hard stand pitches are available, but in the warmer (and drier!) months, there are some grass pitches available too. The sun was out and so we settled on a pitch in full, (early winter) sun. There was a little snow on the ground, with a forecast of more, so fingers crossed…

In addition to the on-site dog walk, you are in the heart of the forest. The site is surrounded by trees and there are many trails and walks for you and the four-legged one. There are also various cycle paths.

Adjacent to the site is Delamere train station from where you can get a direct train to Manchester or Chester. The site is open all year round and members of the CCC can now book up to one year in advance.
