The Gurtnellen Stellplatz is quite possibly the best motorhome stopover, more so considering the strategic location for those en route to Italy. A discovery quite by accident whilst off the Swiss motorway, the Gurtnellen Stellplatz is clearly identified by a motorhome parking sign. Access is easy for larger units. However, once off the motorway, there are one or two narrow stretches of road leading to Gurtnellen. This is also the first official stellplatz that we have visited in Switzerland.

- Great value for money at twenty Euro or twenty Swiss Francs. Payment by an honesty box.
- Train station within walking distance for exploring further afield
In terms of value for money, this is excellent. The location, to the north of the St Gotthard Road Tunnel will help you plan journeys and avoid any delays! Delays are worse in high season and late morning onwards. By transitting the tunnel early morning, you will miss this inconvenience! I’ve been unable to find the official website.
