Barncroft Farm Caravan Site is privately owned and is located a few miles south of Oswestry. More often than not, the Kon-tiki resides on larger commercial sites, but since stumbling across Camping La Tuilerie in France, I have decided that more time needs to be spent on the smaller sites which often offer a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere – a quick Google search then revealed Barncroft Farm Caravan Site.

The weather forecast for the weekend was terrible, strong winds and torrential rain. However, it seemed that this semi rural location spot in “Sunny Shropshire” was avoiding the most of it! In fact, looking at the photo’, it is hard to believe this was nearing the end of October!

At present, Barncroft Farm Caravan Site offers five pitches, two on grass and three on hard stand. All five pitches have electric hook up provided. Entrance to the site is via an electronic gate that is operated by a pin number. This is given to campers on arrival.

The owner advised me that he is intending to increase the number of pitches to around 20, and these will be mostly on hard stands. Further more, it is the owner’s intention to add shower/toilet facilities in due course. The site is well screened from the roadside with conifers.

There is a fresh water point on site, and of course a waste water dumping area. The two are clearly separated by a fence, thus avoiding any risk of “cross contamination”. The site encourages recycling with facilities for glass, tin cans and plastic bottles.

Next door, sits Barncroft Nurseries, stocking a range of plants and so on. As a result, a stay at Barncroft Farm Caravan Site may well appeal to those with green fingers. Caravan storage is also available. This is in a separate area to the camping pitches and the rates appear reasonable.
