Pont a Mousson motorhome aire is a couple of miles off the A31 motorway, between Metz and Nancy in France. This motorway is a regular feature in our toll-free routes. Making use of another pleasant aire, in addition to that at nearby Charmes, adds to the pleasure of the A31 route towards Switzerland.

A working barge on the canal

The aire is alongside a working canal – so you will see a good number of barges carrying their wares. There’s also a marina too, so you have a pleasant outlook from your ‘van.

Typical of many camper stops in France, the Pont a Mousson motorhome aire offers fresh and grey water facilities and chemical disposal point. There are electric hook ups, each offering five amps.

There are about thirty places at the aire

The cost of the Pont a Mousson motorhome aire

The aire costs 9.50 euro for a stopover inclusive of the facilities. However, there is a barrier to the aire. This is open at certain times of day – this was the case when we arrived. Later in the evening, the barrier was closed but there appeared to be a number to call for access. In the morning, the barrier was open again! There was no payment machine and no one came to collect our fee.

Just after eight in the morning, we heard a toot toot – it was the local baker. There were twenty or so motorhomes all wanting breakfast hence she did a roaring trade. The prices were reasonable and the infamous French stick was superb.

Pont a Mousson motorhome aire

The Pont a Mousson motorhome aire is in a pleasant location, although you do experience some road noise. Assuming the advertised fee is paid – and we do not know how to do this – this aire is excellent value for money. As a result, the aire is busy – even in February. Get there in good time to get a place.

Details of this stellplatz are available in the Europe Camperstop book – well worth the money!
