Camping Butterfly is one of a number of campsites at Peschiera del Garda at the southern end of Lake Garda. I had stayed here a few years ago and was very impressed. However, this was not the case on these two recent visits. The site feels crowded and generally “being crammed in”. Interestingly, as most pitches are used by statics, the actual number of visitors on the site can be low, even though all touring pitches are taken.

On site facilities at Camping Butterfly

  • Grass pitches with six amps electric
  • Motorhome service point
  • Laundry
  • Pot wash
  • Good sized swimming pool
  • Bar/restaurant – good value for money meals
  • On site shop with fresh bread every morning
  • WiFi (charge payable)
  • Statics and holiday homes for hire

There is however one small thing missing – a fresh water tap. We didn’t find any around the site. Nor did our neighbours. Therefore, water was brought from the pot wash!

The location of this site is clearly a strong selling point however. Noteworthy of a mentions are that trains, buses and boats are all within easy reach for those wishing to travel further afield. The site is very easy to find and is just a couple of minutes from the A4 motorway. Follow the brown signs from the A4 motorway exit, “Peschiera del Garda”

We re-visited the site in September 2012, and despite booking a large pitch for a tag axle motorhome, we could not be accommodated. The site was crowded with units too close together for our liking, so we stayed at Camping del Garda instead.

Camping Butterfly has a longer season than many sites at Garda. The website is available on this link

We tried to visit Camping Butterfly again, a few months later and had made a booking for a large pitch. Alas, when we arrived, there was no suitable pitch, so we left without staying. We choose to stay at Camping del Garda instead.
