Should I buy a caravan? No more motorhoming?

Leaving the Camping and Caravaninng Club Oswestry behind, I headed off first to Tesco at Telford. This store is conveniently next to the M54. Ideal for a grocery shop and then also a session with the marvellous recycling machine. In go aluminium tins cans and out come Clubcard Points! The points are used at a later date for a Eurotunnel or a Stenaline booking. The machine will recycle just about anything, but only gives Clubcard Points for aluminium drinks cans and spray type deodorant cans.

A quick top up with diesel too at 133.9p per litre  and then back on to the motorway, until, crack – the windscreen chipped.  I felt this was not an emergency or danger so I carried on via Cannock and the A38.

On then to Canwell Caravans for a long look around the Swift Conqueror 630 caravan and also the slightly lower spec Swift Challenger 620 model. The layouts are the same, but the Conqueror features Alde heating, silver sides and a tall fridge freezer. The Challenger has an under worktop fridge but more workspace. I was very fortunate in that the two caravans we parked adjacent. I had a good look around but am still favouring a new motorhome. However, the practicality of having a tow car is appealing.

Should I buy a caravan – summary!

In short, I feel the answer is no. There is not enough storage space and not enough payload. That said, the caravan offers more living space.

Onwards again to another Camping and Caravanning Club site, this time the Conkers site, located close to Burton upon Trent. This gave an opportunity to catch up with friends in the area and also have a chat to the site staff. I have in the past been a regular visitor to the site, so it was nice to catch up with news and so on.

I also telephoned Autoglass but it could not be established at that time whether there was an excess for a repair or not, so I said I would sort it out later. As mentioned, I do not think the chip is a danger.
