It’s fair to say that the number of sites that are open in the thick of winter is minimal. However, the Camping and Caravanning Club Teversal is one of about 15 of the Club’s sites to be open all year round. On arrival, just as darkness was closing in,  I was offered a choice of pitch and with assistance from Jane, (franchisee). I opted to pitch with the Kon-tiki’s nose into the wind, braced for the storms that were forecast, and indeed were “brewing”.

Morning came and it was hard to believe the weather conditions of the previous day. More like late spring in the relatively warm morning sunshine!

Typical of many modern sites, the Camping and Caravanning Club Teversal offers campers the following facilities.

  • Ultra modern amenity block – see below
  • Chemical disposal point
  • Motorhome service point – wide and easy to access, just after entering the site
  • Pot wash area
  • Children’s play area
  • Adjacent games field
  • WiFi (charge payable)
  • Reception area with some groceries, sweets, ice-creams, hot drinks and newspapers available
  • Camping Cabin for those wishing to try “glamping”
  • Static caravan for hire
  • Hard stand pitches with electric
  • Super service pitches with electric, fresh and waste water
  • Some very long pitches, suitable for RV’s or 5th wheelers
  • Dog and cycle shower – see below

Generally speaking, it is safe to assume that most amenity blocks are the same – well not in this case. The present facility block was built a few years ago and houses the ladies and gents facilities, family room, room for the less able and a laundry. Within both the gents and the ladies, there are several wet rooms. Each wet room is equipped with a powerful shower, wash basin and toilet. There are also separate toilets and wash basins. Under floor heating adds to the comfort.

The photograph’s below were taken with kind agreement from the franchisees and also whilst the facility block was closed for cleaning. Staff were present at the time.

Five star facilities at the Camping and Caravanning Club Teversal

Within the ladies and gents area are several “wet rooms”, each having a powerful shower, toilet and wash basin (above) The family room is also very well equipped – compete with a secure baby bath.

For those wishing to pursue cycling or dog walking – you will not be disappointed. Step out of the gates of the site and you are in a dog walkers and cyclists paradise. This is the site of the former Silver Hill colliery that has been regenerated into an area for walkers and cyclists. Further maps are available in reception.

After a dog walk, you are safe in the knowledge that there is an on site dog wash!

From time to time, coach excursions are available from site. In previous years there has been a trip to the Lincoln Christmas market, Matlock and its illuminations, and also Chatsworth House. Further details of the excursions, pricing etc are available from the Camping and Caravanning Club Teversal on 01623 551838, or have a read of the Club’s website.
