The Camping and Caravanning Club Canterbury has for a few years been a firm favourite of mine – this last visit though really established the site as “top dollar.”

Since my last visit, the amenity blocks have had a major refit, with new showers, toilets and so on. Other improvements to the site include alteration to the reception and information area and a wider “new arrivals parking area”. I noted that the new arrivals parking area was lined with newly planted apple trees, each one having details of its fruit etc.

The site is large with about 200 pitches yet there is not a feeling of being in a large commercial site, possibly due in part to the site having various pitching areas, many surrounded by mature trees and hedges. As a quirk, the pitching areas are named. I like to pitch on “Park Lane!”

On site facilities at the Camping and Caravanning Club Canterbury…

    • Two recently refitted amenity blocks
    • Easy to access motorhome service point
    • Hard stand or grass pitches
    • Dog walk
    • CDP
    • Laundry
    • WiFi (chargeable)
    • Pot wash area
    • “Early departure area” – see below

The easy to access motorhome service point

A fish and chip van calls at the site on certain days.

Canterbury city centre with its array of shops and visitor attractions is just over a mile away, but adjacent to the site is a bus stop, with fairly frequent services into Canterbury. Further afield are Leeds Castle, Deal, Dover and other coastal resorts.

The port of Dover and the channel tunnel are both within about a half hour drive, and this, coupled with the overnight parking area, ensures that the Camping and Caravanning Club Canterbury is a great transit stop, but is also a good location for exploring the delights that Kent has to offer.

Unfortunately, I had camera trouble and hence am lacking a few decent photo’s. Here is the dash cam view of the site though.

We have also had a stay on this site with a previous motorhome in a heavy snow fall – it was superb!
